A scene of Do Patti

Kajol never disappoints. No matter how weak the script, if Kajol is on screen, you can’t take your eyes off her. This popular belief about the actress will be proven false after watching ‘Do Patti’. You’ll regret watching this movie that released on Netflix last Friday. Is it just Kajol who performed poorly, or is the movie ‘Do Patti’ weak as a whole?

Many films, especially thrillers, have been made in the hilly regions of India. A thriller set in the hills with stars like Kajol and Kriti Sanon on screen – ‘Do Patti’ should have been a blockbuster. But did Shashank Chaturvedi’s web film manage to satisfy?

The story revolves around two twin sisters. There has been a rivalry between them since childhood, which intensifies even in choosing a lover when they grow up. One of them marries him. From then on, the ordeal begins; domestic violence becomes a daily occurrence. But even though her husband commits so many crimes, the wife is reluctant to complain. Meanwhile, a new mystery emerges. Police officer Jyoti Kanwar (Kajol) steps in to solve it. While the story sounds exciting, it’s actually not.

Kanika Dhillon, through her screenplay, presents the story of the women around us who are both helpless and strong in their own way. Her films ‘Manmarziyan’ and ‘Haseen Dillruba’ have been well-received. But in this film, all her efforts have gone in vain.

A Scene of Do Patti

The filmmaker primarily intended to convey the message of domestic violence through the guise of a thriller. The intention is noble, but the presentation is not at all appropriate. The weak screenplay is the biggest problem with the film. Nowadays, even if someone gives a message in a film, it should not feel imposed. But in ‘Do Patti’, it feels overly imposed. Not only that, it has been forcefully promoted in various parts of the film, which was very unpleasant. The entire film is weighed down by the flaws in the screenplay.

The difference between the twin sisters is depicted in a very clichéd manner. One sister is conservative, the other is liberal. To show this, the director has resorted to the same old clothing. Something that was often seen in Hindi films five decades ago.

The only positive aspect of the film is Kriti Sanon. She has given a brilliant performance as the twin sisters. She was exceptional, especially in the emotional scenes. This film once again reminds us that winning the National Film Award for Best Actress for ‘Mimi’ was not a fluke. Kriti has also ventured into production with this film.

But apart from Kriti, everyone else in the film has given a poor performance. Kajol is the one who will disappoint you the most. In this film, for the first time in her three-decade-long career, she has played the role of a police officer. But Kajol has disappointed as a police officer on screen.

The film starts with her, and within the first few minutes, you will realize that this character was not meant for her. The most disappointing part. In the film, she repeatedly mispronounces Hindi in a local accent, forgetting her own acting.

A large part of ‘Do Patti‘ was shot in the beautiful hilly regions of Uttarakhand, including Nainital and Dehradun. This is the only solace while watching the monotonous story!
