Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a prominent name in South Indian cinema, is set to make her mark in the action genre with her upcoming series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. The series, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, is part of the global Citadel universe and features Varun Dhawan as her co-star.
“It’s inspiring to see more and more female actors like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Shetty, and others taking on action roles,” Samantha said in an interview. “I’m thrilled to be part of this trend and explore a new facet of my acting career.”
Known for her versatile roles in films like Ye Maaya Chesave, Eega, and Mahanati, Samantha’s previous work in The Family Man 2 showcased her potential as a powerful antagonist. While many of her action sequences in the show were initially cut, her performance left a lasting impression.
Samantha’s dream of playing a female James Bond-like character has come closer to reality with Citadel: Honey Bunny. She expressed her excitement about performing high-octane action sequences and exploring the spy genre.
Looking ahead, Samantha is keen on collaborating with her Citadel co-star Varun Dhawan for a comedy film. “We’ll definitely do a comedy movie together soon,” she revealed.
Citadel: Honey Bunny will premiere on Prime Video on November 7th, alongside a stellar cast including Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem, and Sikander Kher.
